This is my view of the E3D hotend after using it for a few days. I originally ordered the V6 because my stock hotend simply couldn't handle PETG at 240. The stock hotend can reach that temperature, but the prints constantly jammed. In fact, I used almost all of a reel of red PETG trying to tune the old hotend.

Stock retract setting was 7mm changed it to 2.5mm and it seems to work much better now. Was also able to remove the E3D hotend, clean the dust that had accumulated on the cooling fins, checked to make sure the nozzle was tight against the heat break. I have one of the newer printers, there is still a limit switch on the Z axis at the top of the machine, it has a black Z motor, and uses the V4 hotend. I was just wondering if using the 24v E3D V6 would negate any power conversions that would be required in using the 12V hotend.

Aug 09, 2016 · Interestingly, this is a wades setup and I can't fit the bowden clamp into the end of the hotend and get it into the extruder assembly. I don't disagree with your observation but am perplexed as this exact setup hasn't been an issue for 400+ printing hours. The PTFE tube runs up the entire extruder assembly and is cut flush with the hobbed bolt.
